how to straighten a chassis

Post by Rataplan »

hello,

sometimes the chassis supplied with a car is not perfectly flat.
The car will not preform optimal.
One possibility to straighten a chassis is to cook it.
place the chassis on a 100% straight metal piece of a thickness of around 0,5 cm
(this will avoid the metal plate to bend)
fix the chassis down by mean of the magnets

heat the oven to 85°C, and heat water up around 80°C
put the oven out.
place the plate with the chassis carefully in a pot
poor the water over it
let it cool down over night.
make sure water is around 3 to 4 cm min over the chassis

the chassis will adapt the new (straight) structure,
it is very important the cooling goes slowly

there might be an advantage to do this after you had your evening tea
(could avoid some trouble about the sense and use of an oven in a kitchen)

sometimes a thermometer is difficult to read,
and the cooking of the chassis goes wrong
(ore somebody made use of the oven before you could remove the cooled down chassis)

either move out
or start over
in both cases you will need a new chassis
